We are very proud to say that every single light in our collection is made in England.  Read on to hear about the passion that our founder Harriet Daniels has for British craftsmanship, and why making our lighting in England is part of our DNA.

Tigermoth was born out of a desire to create elegant modern lighting, immaculate in every detail. We successfully launched our first collection of lights during London Design Week in 2009, and we have grown organically ever since.

Every year, we add new designs to a collection that now features thousands of customisable options. Meanwhile, the talented Tigermoth team has grown to fill our picturesque Thameside workshop-showroom.

In all that time, the one thing that has not changed is the care and attention we pay to every detail of every light, for every client we work with.

“There was never any question in my mind when I started work on Tigermoth back in 2008 as to where the lighting would be made – the desire to deliver a collection of lighting that showcases the best of British craftsmanship was a driving force in the creation of the business.”  Says Harriet Daniels, Founder and Creative Director of Tigermoth Lighting.

“For many years, I felt like my passion for making our lights in Britain was met with a mixed reception.  The interiors marketplace is saturated with cheap imported products and I felt like many people were not interested in considering the reality of where and how the products that they live with every day originated.”

The fact that Tigermoth’s workshop and most of our suppliers are right here in the UK means that the design team can keep a close eye on production to ensure that we are delivering immaculate quality with each order.  It also means that Tigermoth can be very responsive and flexible to creating tailored and customized lighting especially for designers’ projects.

Tigermoth is known amongst interiors industry insiders for its supportive approach to its trade clients.  Harriet again: “Our lead times are extremely competitive due to the fact that we are in control of our supply chain to a larger extent than other suppliers – we can offer made-to-order lighting on relatively short lead times.  And on the rare occasion that something goes wrong we can resolve the situation quickly and without a fuss.”

So making our lighting in the UK makes sense for our trade clients but what about the sustainability angle?  “It is a sad fact that in developed countries our homes are filled with objects that are often made on the other side of the world in circumstances that we know very little about.”
