Bedside Lighting Design
Design ideas for the last moment of every day:
– A SOFT GLOW
A thoughtful bedside design is the hallmark of a professional interior designer. Here at Tigermoth, we love to see how our clients use our lighting to create the ultimate in bedside luxury. Decorative lighting at a beside is all about creating a relaxing atmosphere. Avoiding glare is key, which is why the soft light from alabaster is a great option.
– DECORATIVE VS TASK
A key consideration in any lighting design, this distinction is particularly important when designing bedsides. Whilst task lighting fills a functional need such as reading, decorative lighting will deliver an atmospheric glow which sets the ambience of the room. Select pieces with interesting textures and install with a dimming system for best effect.
– WALL LIGHTS AND PENDANTS WORK TOO
Your bedside scheme doesn’t need to include a Table Lamp. In fact, using a well-placed Wall Light or Pendant Light will keep the bedside table clear. The key to success is in the placement of the light in relation to the bed, the headboard, and of course the bedside table. Place your light low enough to feel connected but high enough for downlighting.
– DETAIL MATTERS
This is an area where your client will spend a lot of time! Selecting decorative lighting with character, texture and beautiful natural materials will create visual interest. Clear signs of hand-crafting along with an understanding of the origin of the lighting design will add to the sense of luxury of a space.
